As the Sheraton Detroit Novi is now sold out we've procured a overflow contract with the nearby Hampton Inn Northville just one block south of the convention hotel. Both Double and King rooms are available at this time. To reserve a room for the event please call the Hampton at (734)462-1119 and mention group code "TFC" to get the convention rate of $92.00 a night. The hotel only has a limited number of double rooms but they also have many king rooms with pull out couches. |

Hi Everyone, I've gotten a few questions about why FCN is no longer registering minors as of our 2013 event. I figured in the interest of transparency that I would give everyone the low down on why we made the decision. Last year we made the move to requiring minors to preregister. We did this because in previous years there were multiple problems with minors arriving on site without a notarized parental permission form or a legal guardian. As these are required to legally allow a minor to attend our event obtaining permission while minors were on site was extremely problematic and time consuming for our registration staff. Because of this last year we decided to try forcing pre registration for minors as that would get all of the paperwork out of the way before hand. Unfortunately things didn't work out that way very well either. Of the 20 minor registrations we received we were only able to obtain parental consent from half of them. As such we had to issue refunds to the 10 that we were unable to receive the proper documentation from. The 10 that we did register were overly time consuming as we had to contact parents in several cases to receive the proper permission. Overall registering 10 minors took us as long as the other roughly 400 preregistrations. Considering the total attendance for FCN 2012 was 1127 this meant that the total minor registrations constituted less than 1% of total attendees. It became obvious to us at that point that Furry Connection North does not appeal to the under 18 demographic. That combined with the serious burden that minor registration placed on our registration department compelled our board of directors to decide to eliminate minor registration from FCN. |

Total attendance: 1179 members Fursuit Parade count: 230 fursuiters Total Charity Donations for Mutts and Mutts Rescue: $5000 ($1,214 in cash, $440 from the poker tournament, $1,975 from the Charity Auction, and $1,371 from the con!) On Site Registration Rules! Please bear in mind that the goal of registration is to get everyone taken care of as quickly as possible so they can get out of line and go enjoy the con. These rules are in place to facilitate that, as the registration staff is very focused on that goal. Asking for things that contradict the rules will only get a response of "no", and you will only be delaying the other folks behind you in line. Cash is the fastest and easiest way to pay, and it's always accepted. We also have a Square reader for major credit cards, but if there are any problems with the system cash is the fall back. No other forms of payment will be accepted. Identification is required in order for us to provide you with a badge. We have to verify your human face against your government issued ID. On site badges are limited to sixteen alpha-numeric characters. Upper and lower case A-Z, 0-9 and spaces only. No symbols, no accents, no punctuation marks. NO MINOR REGISTRATIONS WILL BE PROCESSED ON SITE. MINORS WERE REQUIRED TO PRE-REGISTER BY MARCH 30TH, NO EXCEPTIONS WILL BE MADE. The registration desk is not a place to go for information or just hang out. If you have questions pertaining to the convention you may ask at the information desk in the lobby, or ask at operations in the boardroom. If you don't have any business at the registration desk, please refrain from loitering in the area. Current attendance totals will not be given out to attendees so please do not ask the registration staff. An official count of our registration numbers will be announced at closing ceremonies. Hours!
