A little bit of a guide on what to bring for those who are new to conventions or coming to us from out of state and may never have been to Michigan before. Because FCN happens during April it is also during one of Michigans most unpredictable seasons. Spring. It is perfectly possible for everyday to be completely different. Anyone who was here for the first FCN experienced the best example of that. It snowed, rained and was very warm and muggy all in a single weekend. Because Michigan weather is so unpredictable it's not even entirely safe to follow forecasts. The weather can even change rather dramatically from one city to the next, raining in one and perfectly clear in another. No matter what the forecast predicts I suggest the following always be packed. - An umbrella or raincoat - At least one article of cold weather clothing such as a jacket, hoodie, or sweatshirt and a pair of long pants. Also keep in mind the hotel will likely be kept very cool for the sake of the fursuiters so long sleeved shirts might not be a bad idea. EDIT 2013: This year is a great deal colder then last year at this time so keep that in mind. Now here's a list of things you will want to bring for those who have never been to a con. The hotel is located near a shopping center and directly across the street from a couple good restaurants so if you are traveling you don't have to worry about packing more food then what you will need for the course of the trip. - Money for food and artwork - Deodorant and other personal hygiene products - a way to keep time (you don't want to miss anything you wanted to see if you leave the hotel) - Small snack foods such as cereal bars or poptarts. It's not always easy to pull yourself away from the activities to eat when you need to. Keep a small snack on you to hold you over until you have time to get away. DON'T GO WITHOUT FOOD. |

Okay! Go ahead and send auditions (not more than 60 minutes in length) to dance AT furryconnect DOT com with the subject line "FCN 2011 Audition" for consideration. All genres accepted. If you've auditioned for FCN 2010, you must submit an new audition. If you've already submitted an audition for 2011, don't submit another one as you're already in my spreadsheet. Auditions will be accepted until March 1st! DJs will be announced approximately one month from the convention date! Good luck! |

Thanks to everyone who made Furry Connection North 2010 such a success. My staff and I were elated to have so many wonderful folks show up and share in the fun. This year we had 880 people in attendance, 189 of which participated in the Fursuit Parade. Our staff photographer is currently going through all of the pictures from the event; they will be posted here soon. We will be returning to the Sheraton Detroit Novi for a third year April 8th-10th 2011 so mark your calendars! Thanks again for making our dream of throwing the best furry party we could a reality. |
